Residents urged to stop the spread with free tests

Broadland District and South Norfolk Councils are encouraging residents to take lateral flow tests whether they have symptoms of COVID-19 or not.

The councils are working with Norfolk County Council to mass test residents in various locations across the districts each week.

Broadland District Councillor Fran Whymark said:

“Around 1 in 3 people who have Covid-19, don’t have any symptoms, but they can still pass it on. So, if we are in your area, please come and get a test and help us break the chain of transmission.”

South Norfolk Councillor Michael Edney said:

“It takes just 30 minutes to get a result from a lateral flow test, so please keep an eye on our social media pages and if we are near you, get tested and do your bit to stop the spread.”

So far, the councils have undertaken testing at Acle, Drayton, Hellesdon, Hethersett, Loddon & Chedgrave, Poringland, Sprowston, Wymondham and Cringleford.

Residents can find out more and book a test on the Norfolk County Council website.

If residents do have any symptoms, such as a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss or change to sense of smell or taste, then they must not go to a test site, but visit GOV.UK to order a test.
