If you aren't registered you can't vote

You will need to be registered to vote in any upcoming elections. Once you are registered you will be added to the electoral register.

The electoral register is used for electoral purposes, such as making sure only eligible people can vote. It is also used for other limited purposes, such as checking credit applications, detecting crime and calling people for jury service.

The open register is an extract of the electoral register, but it is not used for elections. Every person who registers to vote will be given a choice whether they wish to have their name and address included in the open register. Removing your details from the open register does not affect your right to vote.

Register to vote online. This service will also allow you to:

  • Update your name, address or other details
  • Opt in or out of the open register
  • Apply for a postal or proxy vote.
