Terms and conditions

South Norfolk Business Awards 2019
  1. All Business Award categories are open for self-nomination except the Retailer of the Year category which is only open for public nomination.
  2. You can nominate your business for as many categories as you wish.
  3. All nominations and any additional supporting documents must be submitted online via the nomination form. 
  4. All nominations are open to businesses that are working from an operating base in the South Norfolk administrative area.
  5. Award sponsors cannot enter the award category that they are sponsoring, but are welcome to apply for any others.
  6. Please refer to the list of categories for specific entry criteria.
  7. The comments made on nominations should be accurate to the best of your knowledge. It is the responsibility of the person nominating and the nominated party to ensure that any information is accurate and South Norfolk Council accept no responsibility or liability regarding information supplied to them in this process.
  8. By entering the awards, you agree to partake in campaign publicity, including the use of any images taken, logos and  non-confidential submission information. It is the responsibility of the nominating party and the nominee to ensure that any information provided to South Norfolk Council is non-confidential and all necessary consents have been gained.
  9. Nominations are open between 9am on Thursday 1 November and close at midnight on Monday 31 December 2018.
  10. South Norfolk Council reserve the right to amend the campaign dates if required.
  11. South Norfolk Council employees and Councillors cannot nominate any business or retailer that is jointly owned by themselves, their partners or a close relative. (Close relative is a parent, parent-in-law, son, son-in-law, daughter, daughter-in-law, step-parent, stepson, step-daughter, brother, sister, wife or husband). If South Norfolk Council become aware of a breach of this term the nomination shall be void.
  12. If you are nominating for the Retailer of the Year you may only nominate one retailer. We will only accept one nomination per person, per email address for the Retailer of the Year award. 
  13. 'Retailer' refers to those independent shops with less than 5 outlets, whose primary business is to sell a product. For illustrative purposes, these are the types of businesses we class as retail
  14. The winner from the Retailer of the Year category will be decided by the judges and may include a mystery visit to determine the winner.  
  15. Finalists of all award categories (excluding Retailer of the Year) will be shortlisted by pre-determined scoring criteria and a winner will be selected by the judging panel.
  16. The judges may be drawn from the headline sponsor, representatives from each of the category sponsors, Councillors and Economic Development officers.
  17. Entrants must be willing to consult with the judges should the need arise.
  18. The decision of the judges is final in terms of any award made. The organisers will not be obliged to justify their decision or enter into any correspondence.
  19. South Norfolk Council have the right to change any award category without notice.
  20. All finalists will receive two tickets to attend the awards ceremony presentation evening. Further tickets may be available at a cost of £30 per ticket. (finalists will receive full details).
  21. The awards ceremony will take place 7pm on Tuesday 5 February 2019 at Dunston Hall.
  22. South Norfolk Council reserves the right to alter the programme, venue or speakers without prior notice.
  23. South Norfolk Council shall not be liable for any loss including loss of profit or goodwill and shall have no liability in respect of the awards process, nominations, publicity or event subject to term 24 and to the fullest extent as permitted by law.
  24. Nothing in these limits any liability which cannot legally be limited, including but not limited to liability for (a) death or personal injury caused by negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
  25. Any logos, pictures or communication created for these awards shall remain the exclusive property of South Norfolk Council.
  26. South Norfolk Council is the controller for data protection purposes and information and notices can be found on the entry forms.
  27. South Norfolk Council reserve the right to alter these terms at any time without notice.
  28. If any part of these terms becomes invalid, illegal or unenforceable, it shall be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, legal and enforceable. If such modification is not possible, the relevant provision or part-provision shall be deemed deleted. Any modification to or deletion of a provision or part-provision under this clause shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the rest of the terms.
  29. Any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or in connection with these terms or their subject matter or formation shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with the law and exclusive jurisdiction of England and Wales.
