Customer Notice

As you may have seen in the news, the Government is operating a phased reopening of leisure facilities and although we won’t reopen as hoped on the 4th July, it won’t be long. We have been working really hard behind the scenes to get our facilities ready for you in a way that is safe as possible and allows you to be active with confidence.

As soon as we have further guidance from the Government, we will be in touch with full details about how we will reopen, including how we aim to repay your loyalty to us. Things will be different for a while, but we are confident that you’ll still be able to get the same vital benefits to your health and wellbeing from using our facilities.

Before that happens, we know many of our customers are really keen to start using the centres as soon as we reopen.  If you are a fitness member and this is the case with you, it would help us enormously if you could let us know by emailing leisuremembership@s-norfolk.gov.uk   with your full name, address and home centre (e.g. Wymondham, Long Stratton etc).  This will allow us to ensure that your membership is live to make bookings. If you change your mind at a later date, that’s fine, however, it will enable a smoother reopening for you. As before, you will be informed well before any Direct Debit payments are taken.

We really can’t wait to see you at the centres again but in the meantime do check out our selection of outdoor classes taking place every week here.

At South Norfolk Council the safety of our customers and staff is extremely important to us and as you would have expected we have had to make some changes to our Centres so you can use them in a safe way. The following measures have been taken

  • A queuing system will be put in place outside of the entrance
  • Markers have been laid out on the floor so people adhere to being a safe distance from others
  • A one-way system will be in operation at the building so there will be different entrance and exit points
  • Screens have been put up at both the reception and café areas
  • There will be a limit to the amount of people and time spent in the building each day

What areas of the facility will be accessible?

  • Only the gym and a limited class programme will be open initially
  • There will be no access to the changing rooms
  • Bananas Soft Play will be closed
  • All visits will need to be pre booked to allow us to ensure safe social distancing

Why won’t you be running any high intensity classes in the facility initially?

Due to government and industry guidance regarding running classes in the studio without natural airflow from open windows we won’t be able to run any high intensity classes in the studio for the time being. We shall run a small number of wellbeing classes in the centre and also offer our online and outdoor classes for you all to enjoy.

Why can’t I use the changing rooms?

Due to limited space in the changing room areas and the lack of airflow from windows we are unable to allow access to these rooms.

The gym slots and classes will be bookable online. Members will be able to book two weeks in advance, casual gym and class users will be able to book one week in advance.

The gym visits will run at set times with 75 minute slots - followed by a 15 minute break to allow surface cleaning and air refresh and to ensure we are able to clear the gym between sessions.

All visits will need to be pre booked to allow us to ensure safe social distancing

The new centre opening hours will be:

Monday to Friday: 6:30 - 20:30 (closed 14:00 - 14.30 to allow for deep clean) 
Saturday and Sunday: 8:30 - 16:15 (closed 13:00 - 13:30 to allow for deep clean)

We are now running outdoor classes (following social distancing rules with a maximum of five attendees and an instructor) at Kett's Park in Wymondham and the grounds of South Norfolk House at Long Stratton. Find out more.
