Our garden waste service has become so popular that we have redesigned the routes to enable us to accept new customers onto the scheme.
The day we empty your brown bin may have changed. All garden waste customers have been sent a letter and calendar letting you know if this is the case.
Please see the FAQs below for further information.
Our Garden Waste service has been so popular that we are now having to redesign the routes to enable us to accept new customers.
Every week we collect around 200 tonnes of grass and hedge cuttings, leaves and branches and our rounds have become so busy, with more than 25,000 customers, that our lorries are getting close to their allowed weight limits.
The time that we empty your bin may change.
We ask that bins are available for collection by 6:30am on the new collection days to ensure that they can be emptied. Bins should be left at the edge of the premises closest to the public highway. We are asking residents to leave their bins out until 5pm on the new collection day or until the bin has been emptied.
Collections of garden waste will continue to be a day late on bank holiday weeks, except for Easter where the Good Friday collection will be on the Saturday. The service closes for two weeks over Christmas and New Year so there is no change.
No, the only change may be to the day and/or week of the collection. Our collection crews will continue to collect bins as before.
No, collection day changes will only apply to the garden waste collections. All other services will be unchanged.
In a very few circumstances your first collection could be delayed by 10 days. For example, your current day is a Week 1 Tuesday and your new day is a Week 2 Thursday.
We have chosen to make these changes in November as traditionally we collect less from garden waste bins at this time of year. If you have a long gap and need extra capacity please request, up to two garden waste sacks.
The Garden Waste service is not currently offered to Commercial customers so there will be no changes.
