Our Service

Simple adaptions to the home can make a huge difference to the health and wellbeing of our older and most vulnerable residents.

Our Handyperson Service helps people to stay living independently in their homes for longer. We can help with hand rails, key safes, smoke alarms, works to prevent slips and falls and small home improvements which can improve people’s quality of life.


Our hourly rate for the service is £20 (minimum charge and excluding parts). The service may be free or subsidised for those who meet the qualifying criteria.

Qualifying Criteria

Supported by our Help Hub, we are able to provide subsidised rates for our older and vulnerable residents including up to two hours’ free labour.

Qualifying benefits:

  • Housing Benefit
  • Pension Credit Guarantee.

What services are offered?

Our Handyperson Service - Supporting Independent Living can offer the below works:

  • Handrails*
  • Smoke alarms*
  • Key safes*
  • Small Accessibility and Safety works (e.g. prevention of slips and falls)
  • Basic Home Improvements (e.g. minor furniture repairs).

*parts are charged to the customer, unless they meet the qualifying criteria.

Book an appointment

We will contact you to arrange your Handyperson visit within five working days.  If your work is more urgent or if you require an electrician, plumber etc. then a variety of traders can be found through the Norfolk County Council's Trusted Trader scheme.
