South Norfolk Council is Making a Difference

We runs our own staff volunteering scheme, offering staff a full day out of the office (in exchange for half a days leave) to make a difference in the community they work in.

So far, staff have volunteered at the following places:

  • Appleseed (Community Care Farm)
  • Waveney Food Bank
  • Diss Children’s Centre
  • Henry Preston Primary School
  • Caistor Roman Town
  • Mayfield’s Care Home
  • Oxfam, Diss
  • Emmaus, Norwich

South Norfolk Council employee Sally Garnham volunteered at homeless charity Emmaus, she said:

“It was an incredibly humbling experience and I was inspired by the work they do and the fact that despite the challenges they face, every single one of them was really positive.”

Emmaus retail coordinator Tricia Boechler said:

“The work that was done has leapfrogged us forward by about three weeks, it really has made that much of a difference. A big thank you from all the staff and companions at Emmaus.”

Employee Sonya French volunteered at Oxfam for the day, she said:

"What a great job the volunteers and staff do in this shop for brilliant causes around the world. I’ve had an amazing time and it’s made me realize just how hard volunteers work for free."
