Kett’s Fun Day and Fayre in Wymondham

Enjoy a fun, interactive day out with medieval antics and modern-day excitement at Kett’s Fun Day and Fayre on Sunday 1 September.

The event is celebrating Wymondham’s very own hero Robert Kett and the famous Kett’s Rebellion. Meet Robert Kett and hear him deliver his famous speech to the peasants before they marched on Norwich starting the Rebellion of 1549. Discover their grievances and protests against the enclosure of common land and the rivalry with another local man, Sir John Flowerdew.

The Black Knight Historical performers will be in their Tudor Camp, so you can interact with characters from the 16th century and learn what life was like in this turbulent period.

The Tudor camp will be open to visitors all day, and within the tented encampment the Black Knight Historical team will be showing what it was like in daily Tudor life. There will be ongoing demonstrations and displays of music, birds of prey, weapons and armour, cookery, archery, games and crafts, especially relating to sheep and wool.

Look out for the live Hawk and Falconry demonstrations, join in with the medieval minstrels and have a go at Archery.

Experience all the fun of the fair with rides from a big wheel to Teacups, provided by Larry Gray & Sons. Have a go on the Dodgems, Waltzes, Sizzler ‘Twist, Eliminator, Cage Ride, Fun House, Bungee Trampolines, Cup and Saucers, Toys Roundabout, slides and Inflatables and face painters.

There will be a range of stalls from Arts and Crafts to Jewellery, Books, Beauty, Gifts and Homewares.

A bar and Food Court area featuring a Hog Roast, Street Food, specialist ice cream and doughnuts and much more will keep you refreshed throughout the day.
