Service Updates

If you are in need of support or cannot access essential items, please fill in our online form for non-urgent support. If you need to speak to someone immediately, call 01508 533933, Monday to Friday 08:15 - 17:00 and Saturday and Sunday 10:00 - 16:00.

Current status

Homelessness

We will respond to your email as soon as possible and aim to respond within 10 working days.

Please note that we are experiencing very high levels of demand on our service due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We are still offering our full range of services to customers who need assistance with housing issues but at times may need to prioritise customers who have been verified as homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness.

For the safety of staff and customers most of our work is currently being done online or by phone. Please do not visit our offices in Long Stratton other than to drop off documents in our post box.

Care & Repair / Independent Living

Operating a reduced service with limited visits to self-isolating household. Applicants to the system are triaged, recorded for future delivery and equipment provided where relevant and possible.  Facilitating procedure to initiate low risk works to move forward out of isolation phase in accordance with Health and Safety procedures and government guidance.

Housing Standards

Operating full service but following government guidance we are not visiting households unless essential in accordance with Health and Safety procedures and government guidance.

Waste Services (e.g Bin Collection)

Operating normally:

Black Bins – General Refuse

Green Bins – Recycling

Brown Bins – Garden Waste

Now operating a maximum of 2 people in refuse collection vehicle cabs.

Norfolk County Council has now re-opened all 20 household waste recycling centres across the County but there are some changes to how the sites operate. Please check the website before you visit:

Public Toilets

Public toilets in Diss and Long Stratton remain closed for refurbishment.

Play Areas and Open Spaces

Playgrounds and play areas, parks and countryside sites are open. Please see more information on our play areas, open spaces and public assets page.

On and Off Street Parking

Ticket machines in Council managed car parks not in operation.  

 You can park for free until 1 August 2020 when charging will re-start.

Community Connectors

Supporting people remotely or at appropriate social distance. Community Connectors have re-commenced social prescribing in GP surgeries in eight practices. The go ahead to return in the remining ten is expected over the course of the next month. These practices are still referring by telephone or e-mail.

The Help Hub is here to support people who are in need of any kind of support, including those affected but COVID-19.

Leisure Centres

Dry-side fitness provision reopened at Wymondham, Long Stratton, Kett’s Park and Framingham Earl from Saturday 25th July, with new Covid Secure processes in place. The swimming pool at Wymondham Leisure Centre will reopen in mid-August, followed by Diss Leisure Centre in mid-September. We have increased the tennis capacity at Kett’s Park in line with some of the easing of restrictions outlined recently by the LTA.
