Fly-tipping

Summary

Photo of a pile of dumped rubbish (fridges, freezers etc.)

Fly-tipping is waste that has been illegally dumped, and it could be anything from fridges or washing machines to black bin bags and boxes. We can remove fly-tipping from highways, lay-bys or verges.

We need your support to tackle this type of crime. If you have witnessed anyone fly-tipping please get as much detail as possible, such as the location and vehicle registration. You can then report the incident on our freefone number 0808 1682999 or report it online (details below).

How to report fly-tipping

Please note that we can't remove fly-tipping that has been dumped on private land - this becomes the responsibility of the land owner. But we still need to be told about all fly-tipping incidents.

  1. Contact us online (link under 'Online forms' below), or by e-mail, telephone or letter (our details are at the foot of this page);
  2. Information we will need from you:
    - your full name;
    - your full address including your postcode;
    - your home telephone number and a number which we can contact you on during normal office hours if this is different;
    - your email address (if applicable);
    - how you would like us to get back to you;
    - location of the fly-tipped waste, and;
    details of the kind of waste that has been dumped.
