Blue badge parking permits

Summary

Blue parking badges allow cars carrying people who are registered blind or people who have severe walking difficulties to be parked near shops, stations and other facilities. It replaced the Orange Badge Scheme. Blue Badges are issued as existing badges come up for renewal, or as new applications are processed. The Blue Badge is recognised throughout member states of the European Union.

Norfolk County Council look after Blue Badges, and their website has frequently asked questions and the necessary application forms if you want to apply for a permit.

To apply for a Blue Badge parking permit...

  1. Visit the Norfolk County Council's Blue Badge web pages (where you will also find answers to some frequently asked questions);
  2. Follow the link to apply for the permit - you can either download and print an application form or submit an application online. You will need:
    - proof that you need the permit, and;
    - two passport sized photographs.
  3. Alternatively, phone or email Norfolk County Council and request the necessary forms - their contact details are given at the foot of this page.
