South Norfolk Place-Making Guide SPD

Summary

The purpose of the South Norfolk Place-Making Guide Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) is to promote and secure high quality design in new development within the district. It also makes clear what the Council expects when deciding planning applications.

The guide is applicable to all new development with the exception of alterations and extensions to existing properties, and design in the historic environment (listed buildings and conservation areas). It sets out a number of design principles based on recognised best practice and explains the key requirements that the Council will take into consideration when assessing proposals for new development.

The guide expands upon planning policies in the Greater Norwich Development Partnership Joint Core Strategy 2011, in particular Policy 2 ‘Promoting Good Design’, and will be used as a material consideration in the determination of planning applications.
