Community Infrastructure Levy consultation

Summary

Architects and builders planning a development

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a new way of collecting contributions from builders to help fund infrastructure. CIL allows the Council to charge a tariff, at a locally set rate, on new development. The money can then be used to pay for a wide range of infrastructure that is required as a result of development. This can include transport schemes, green infrastructure and community facilities.

We are working with our Greater Norwich Development Partnership GNDP colleagues (Broadland District and Norwich City Councils, in conjunction with Norfolk County Council) to produce our CIL charging schedule. This charging schedule sets the rates for the levy for different types of development.

Through the GNDP, we have published a draft charging schedule and are inviting comments on its contents. The draft charging schedule and related documents, together with details of how you can comments and the timetable for introducing CIL can be found on the GNDP website. The period for making comments runs from Monday 6 February to Monday 5 March 2012.
