LDF background study: Urban Capacity Study

Summary

We carry out an Urban Capacity Study to find out how much additional housing can be accommodated inside the existing boundaries of towns and villages. Using land already inside such a boundary reduces development on ‘greenfield’ land (land where nothing has been built before).

The South Norfolk study uses the settlement boundaries defined in the Local Plan, with a starting date of 1 January 2005. It aims to provide an estimate of housing capacity in the District up to 2021.
