Local Plan Part One: area-wide policies

Summary

The Local Plan contains policies which are specific to certain parts of South Norfolk, and others which determine what kinds of development are allowed throughout the whole district. These are called area-wide policies, and you can download all the maps from here.

Changes to Local Plan Policies

November 2007

Because the Local Plan has not yet been replaced by the Local Development Framework (LDF), we have updated the Policies in the Local Plan to keep it relevant until the new scheme takes over. The policy changes are highlighted in the downloads below, but if you want to see a list of everything that's changed - and more information about why we have done it - see our page on Discontinued Local Plan Policies.

March 2011

The Joint Core Strategy Policies adopted in March 2011 have superseded some Local Plan Policies. We've updated all the published Local Plan Policies on this website. Those that have been superseded by the Joint Core Strategy have been struck through and are noted with a purple text box.

How to use the maps

The Proposals map shows where inset maps are available (numbered red squares) – these are separate maps that go into more detail for villages and towns. You can find these on the page for Individual settlement proposals.

The remaining links will open the documents that contain the policy text. These contain an explanation of each of the nine area-wide policies in the Local Plan. The appendices provide maps, information about open spaces and car parking requirements, plus a glossary of terms used in the Local Plan.

Please note: some of the files are large and may take some time to download.
