Local Plan
Our planning policy is contained in the Local Plan, which is made up of a series of detailed maps and policies. The Local Plan will eventually be replaced by the Local Development Framework (LDF) - a new approach that aims to simplify development planning. Until then, you should take a look at the policies in the Local Plan before making any planning application.
November 2007: changes to the Local Plan
Because the LDF is still being developed, we have had to update the Local Plan by removing some of its Policies, to guide development in the district until the LDF takes over. We've updated all the published Policies on our website, discontinued policies have been struck through and a text box below each advises which policy you should use instead. For reference please see our page for the schedule of saved policies.
March 2011: changes to the Local Plan
The Joint Core Strategy Policies adopted in March 2011 have superseded some Local Plan Policies. We've updated all the published Local Plan Policies on this website. Those that have been superseded by the Joint Core Strategy have been struck through and are noted with a purple text box.
