Local Plan
Our planning policy is contained in the Local Plan, which is made up of a series of detailed maps and policies. The Local Plan will eventually be replaced by the Local Development Framework (LDF) - a new approach that aims to simplify development planning. Until then, you should take a look at the policies in the Local Plan before making any planning application.
November 2007: changes to the Local Plan
Because the LDF is still being developed, we have had to update the Local Plan by removing some of its Policies, to guide development in the district until the LDF takes over. We've updated all the published Policies on our website, but if you want to see a summary of which ones have been removed, and which ones you should use instead, see our page on Discontinued Local Plan Policies.
