LDF: Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report

Summary

Greater emphasis is now placed on making sure that Local Development Framework (LDF) plans and proposals are as sustainable as possible. The sustainability appraisal process helps to identify the issues and challenges facing the LDF, suggesting how policy may tackle these.

As the first stage of sustainability appraisal, this scoping report contains three main aspects:

  1. A review of plans and programmes that might have implications for the LDF;
  2. A background study of South Norfolk and assessment of the issues that planning will face in the future, and;
  3. The development of a Sustainability Appraisal Framework.

This Framework is particularly important, as it will help develop policy by highlighting the possible environmental, social and economic effects.

Download the scoping report - and the results of the consultation we did on the draft version of it from December 2005 to February 2006 - by following the links below.

Further information

The Scoping Report has been amended since its statutory consultation (December 2005-February 2006). Where changes, comments and recommendations were received from consultation, these are recorded in the accompanying Scoping Report Stakeholder Feedback report (second download above).

The Scoping Report is intended to accompany the Core Strategy and Site Specific Policies Development Plan Documents as part of the LDF. At later stages, a Sustainability Appraisal Report will accompanyour Preferred Options consultation, identifying where the Sustainability Appraisal process has been considered and how its assessment Framework has informed policy development.
