Southern Broads Cultural Initiative

Summary

Sculptural Shopping Party at Pye’s Mill, by Mark Goldsworthy

We started the Southern Broads Cultural Initiative in 2002, using arts-based activities over a period of three years to re-vitalise cultural tourism in the 33 rural parishes bordering the rivers Yare, Chet & Waveney.

The project, which has now finished,  has been cited as a success story within the regional cultural strategy for the East of England (P9 case study Reversing tourist decline), and is an example of how culture is a key component for community prosperity.

You can download the cultural strategy from the Living East website, and find out more about the Southern Broads Cultural Initiative by downloading the summary document under 'Downloads' below.
