Commissions & opportunities for local artists

Summary

We are keen to support local artists and help promote their work and have recently set up an artist’s network, which already has over a hundred local members. This network enables us to circulate opportunities, including local and regional artistic commissions. There will also be a programme of tailored training and our bi-annual meetings are a great way to network with fellow artists.

We are planning to host a permanent directory of artists on our website, where the work of local artists can be displayed in an online gallery and we are also hoping to use the Council Offices as an exhibiting space! If you would be interested in joining our artists network contact us on: 01508 533979 or email lcc@s-norfolk.gov.uk.

We often work with arts organisations to provide commissions and valuable experience for local artists. If there are any artists currently working on commissions we have helped to arrange, you will find the details here.

Artists wanted: Art Alive in Norfolk Churches, May 2008

The Norfolk Arts Partnership (NAP) is working with Norfolk Broads and Rivers Open Churches to raise the profile of arts and heritage in Norfolk through a Church Art trail.

Working with Broadland Council, Breckland Council and ourselves, the NAP wants to encourage people to leave their cars at home, get on their bikes and ride round a trail of churches over two weekend in May 2008.

In each church there will be an artist or craftsperson in residence demonstrating their skills and giving the public a chance to try their hand at crafts such as feltmaking, wood carving, or basket making to name but a few. In order to make this trail successful we are looking for some artists to take part in the trail.

Artists we are looking for

  • Botanical Artists: this would be for a selling exhibition which will be held in South Walsham;
  • Storyteller: this would be at Merton Church, famous for the ‘Babes in the Wood’ story, but would not necessarily have to be based around that story.

The sessions would be for two weekends in May 2008 (3 & 4 May and 10 & 11 May). The artists would need to be available for Saturday, Sunday and Monday of each week, and would get a fee of £200 per day for their work.

How to apply

Initially we would like a CV and an indication of the skills that you can offer by 3 December 2007. Please send this to:
