Heritage outreach programme

Summary

The Heritage Outreach Programme encompasses several projects that look to involve the schools and communities of South Norfolk in developing a knowledge and appreciation of their own heritage.

This Programme will include:

  • In-school and after-school demonstrations and activities;
  • The Village and Town Signs Project, and;
  • Local History Project.

Further information

Even though this programme is very new it has already resulted in a huge response from the parishes of South Norfolk.

Through this Project we now have:

  • A more complete record of the Town & Village signs of South Norfolk (and perhaps as important – The stories behind them);
  • A growing record of local tales and characters, which can be used by local school children;

We are currently working with partners, both inside and outside the Council, to create a varied and interesting events and activity programme that will contribute to key stages of the curriculum.
