Other vacancies

We are always looking for people to work at elections and during the annual canvass. The jobs available include Presiding Officers, Poll Clerks, Count Assistants and Canvassers. Job descriptions are available above.

Annual Canvass

Every year between August and November, Councils throughout the Country undertake their annual canvass. This work is vital to enable Electoral Registration Officers to update the Registers in time for meeting the statutory publication date of 1 December. The annual canvass employs canvassers to hand deliver a voter registration form to every household within our area, asking the occupiers/owners who will be living in the property as at 15 October. Further forms may have to be delivered if the initial form is not returned and, where a response is still not received, canvassers will have to 'door-knock' to get a form completed.

Expression of Interest Form

Also available to download is an Expression of Interest form which you will need to complete if you are interested in applying for one or more of these positions. Simply download and print off the form, returning it to Nicola Tullock within the Electoral Services Team, details of which are on the bottom of the form.

Please note that, when returning the Expression of Interest form, you need to include the document/s as detailed in the Eligibility for Employment form available below as proof that you are eligible to work in the UK. We will need the original documents. We suggest that you bring the form and documentation together so that we can take copies and hand them back to you straightaway. This will avoid any losses in the post.
