Low Cost Housing Project

Summary

We want to provide more low cost homes for rent in our rural parishes. Our aim is for our villages to remain vibrant places to live, with housing available for all generations.

We are working in partnership with Saffron Housing Trust who will develop, own and manage the homes.

Further information

One of the Council’s six corporate priorities is to'Innovate and deliver low cost housing for local people'. The Low Cost Housing Project has been developed to help meet this priorty.

It is in addition to the valuable contributions already being made by our other partner Registered Social Landlords in developing social housing in South Norfolk. This project will help provide more homes in as many of the smaller parishes as possible, where there is a need and local support.

About the Low Cost Housing Project leafets

We've produced three leaflets that answer your questions and tell you more about the project. They can be downloaded by following the links above. Here's a summary of each one:

Introduction to South Norfolk Council’s Low Cost Housing Project- Frequently Asked Questions

This document explains what the project is about and who it is for, along with answers to a variety of questions such as 'What standards will the homes be built to?' and 'How long will it take?'

An overview for Parish Councils

This leaflet describes things for Parish Councillors to consider in their parish. The support of your Parish Council will greatly increase the chances of delivering a successful low cost housing scheme.
