Greater Norwich Housing Market Assessment

A partnership project between Norwich City, Broadland District & South Norfolk councils

Housing Market Assessment: introduction

Summary

A brief introduction to the Greater Norwich Housing Market Assessment, which is a full assessment of the housing market in the greater Norwich area - the Norwich City, Broadland and South Norfolk Council areas. The assessment took place in 2006-07 and was completed in September 2007.

Further information

What is a housing market assessment?

A housing market assessment is a detailed study of how the housing market operates in a particular area. Assessments are carried out to get a detailed picture of housing need and demand. The Greater Norwich Housing Assessment will look at housing supply and demand in the Greater Norwich sub-region (see a map of the Greater Norwich sub-region).

Why carry out an assessment?

The results of the Greater Norwich assessment will help private house builders, housing assiciations and the three councils in the partnership to get a comprehensive picture of housing need and demand.

Most importantly the assessment will provide information about the type and location of housing needed over the next 10 years in the Greater Norwich area. This will help us to develop planning and housing policies.

The assessment will build on the Housing Need and Stock Condition survey carried out by Opinion Research Services in 2006. The full survey report is published on our website - see Greater Norwich Housing Need and Stock Condition Survey to download a copy of it.

The partnership is made up of Broadland District, Norwich City and South Norfolk Councils, together with housing associations operating in the sub-region.
