2005 Housing Services inspection

Summary

In March 2005 there was an Audit Commission’s housing inspection of our housing strategy and enabling services. The Inspectors also examined the delivery of strategy through homelessness and private sector housing services, although there was not a full service inspection of these areas.

The report was published on 16th June 2005. The inspectors report dealt with two issues:

  • How good is the current service, and;
  • what are the prospects for improvement?

Further information

The inspectors assessed South Norfolk Council as providing a ‘fair’ one-star (on a scale from 0 – 3) service that has “promising prospects for improvement” (2, on a scale of 0 –3).

The Inspector’s report recognised the ongoing improvements within the services – it also highlighted strengths and weaknesses and made recommendations for action. There is a link above to download the full report, and a link to a summary of the report.

The Cabinet considered the report on 11th July 2005 and agreed a six month action plan based on the Inspector’s recommendations and what could be achieved within existing resources. In January 2006 the Cabinet reviewed what had been achieved. There is a link above to download a summary of what we had achieved by January 2006.
