Pest control: wasps
Summary
We offer a service to treat wasps & hornets nests in both domestic and commercial premises, for a fee (see our Environmental services charges for current prices). If you get council tax benefit, housing benefit or pension credit then this service is free for domestic properties.
We do not treat for bees (see our page on Bees for more information). To request a visit from a Pest Control Officer, follow the instructions below.

Further information
Treating wasps & hornets
If we arrive at your property and discover it’s a bees nest rather than a wasps nest, we will keep part of your payment as a call out fee. You will need to call our office the next day to request your part refund. See our Service charges for current prices.
Reinfestation
If the treatment is not succesful within 30 days of your visit, you can call us out to do the treatment again once more, free of charge.
Payments
Treatment from our Pest Control Officers can only be booked in if we receive payment in advance. See our Service charges for details of the fee.
Payment can be made via telephone using credit/debit card, or cheque/postal orders can be sent to us by post. See Making payments to South Norfolk Council for details.
Treatment process
When you request an appointment you will be offered a date (Monday to Fridays only). An officer will visit your property on that date, between the hours of 9am – 3.30pm. You must be there for this visit.
On that day you are welcome to call us from 9am, giving us the reference number, and we can then give you a three hour time slot for when our Pest Control Officer will visit.
Service charges
We will do our best to make sure we deliver this service to you in the timescales given below. Due to increases in demand these may not always be met.
- We aim to treat problems inside your premises within three working days
- We aim to treat problems outside your premises with five working days
See our Pest Control Service leaflet for information on what to look for, prevention and control. You can download the leaflet by following the link under 'Downloads' above.
