Industrial pollution control

Summary

We regulate certain industrial and commercial processes under the Environmental Permitting (England & Wales) Regulations 2007. If you are an operator of one of these processes you need to obtain a permit from us in order to operate. If the application is successful, the permit will include conditions aimed at preventing pollution or reducing it to acceptable levels.

How to apply for a permit

  1. Choose the appropriate application and guidance notes form from the list under 'Printable forms' below. You may also find the 'Short Guide to Pollution Regulation & Control' useful before applying (available under 'Downloads' below);
  2. Print and complete the application;
  3. Sign the form and return it to the address at the foot of this page (also included on each form).
