For some types of business where animals are kept, sold or displayed it is a legal requirement for them to be licensed.

The cost of these licences is given in our Environmental Service charges page.

Further information

We look after the licensing of all animal premises in South Norfolk, the application forms for the following can be downloaded here;

  • breeding of dogs;
  • pet shops;
  • animal boarding establishments (for dog kennels and catteries);
  • riding schools;
  • dangerous wild animals.

There is a fee for the relevant licence which you will find listed on our Environmental Service Charges page.

How to apply for a license

1. Choose the right application form listed under Printable Forms.

2. Download the form

3. Fill in the application form, making sure that you give us all the information we are asking for.

4. Send the application form and the correct payment to Environment, Health and Leisure, South Norfolk Council, South Norfolk House, Swan Lane, Long Stratton, South Norfolk  NR15 2XE.  Please do not send cash.  Cheques should be made payable to South Norfolk Council.
