Hazardous waste collections

Summary

Skull & cross bones toxic warning sign

We offer a service to collect substances classed as hazardous waste (paint, weed killers etc.) from households. We charge for this service and we have to take payment before we can arrange a collection. You will need to give us a list of all the items you want collected at the time of booking, along with your payment. For the current fee details see our service charges.

Norfolk County Council organise amnesty days for this type of waste, so it may be wise to check when their next event is before paying us to have your waste collected. They also have bins for disposal of paint tins at some of their recycling centres. See Norfolk County Council: hazardous waste for more details.

How to request a hazardous waste collection

  1. Contact us online (link under 'Online forms' below), or by e-mail, telephone or letter (our details are at the foot of this page);

    - how you would like us to respond to you;

Payment

Payment must be made in advance. Payment can be made using a Debit/Credit Card, cheque, Postal Order or paying in cash at our office in Long Stratton.

If paying by cheque or postal order, we cannot book you in for a collection until the cheque/postal order arrives at our Long Stratton office. We will then call you back and book you in.

If paying by cheque please send an accompanying sheet with your name, address and contact information.

Please note: Paint is not considered hazardous if it is dried out. If the paint is in a tin and is dried out this can go in your regular grey refuse bin.
