Bulky waste collections

Summary

We can collect up to five large bulky household items from your premises (e.g. washing machines, carpets, dish washers, TVs). There is a charge for this service, but if you receive council tax benefit, housing benefit and/or pension credit then you are entitled to a reduced fee restricted to 1 collection in a 12 month rolling period.

We can collect a fridge or a freezer as part of your five items. However, if you only have a fridge of freezer to dispose of please see Fridge & freezer collections.

How to request a bulky waste collection

  1. Contact us online (link under 'Online forms' below), or by e-mail, telephone or letter (our details are at the foot of this page);
  2. Information we will need from you:
    - your full name;
    - your full address including your postcode;
    - your home telephone number and a number which we can contact you on during normal office hours if this is different;
    - your email address (if applicable);
    - how you would like us to respond to you, and;
    - the type of bulky waste you want collected.

If you have more than five items there is an extra charge made per additional item. For current fee details, see our Environmental Service Charges. All bulky items must be left outside the property for collection.

Payment

Payment can be made via telephone using credit/debit card, or cheque/postal orders can be sent to us by post. See Making payments to South Norfolk Council for details.

Once the payment has been received this service will be carried out within three working days.

If you get council tax benefit, housing benefit and/or pension credit ,collections cost £10, however if you have a fridge or a freezer, we may be able to collect this for free. If you think you may qualify please let us know when booking your collection.

Small & single items

If you have a single item (i.e. small TV, radios etc), which is less than 50kg in weight and will fit into a domestic refuse sack or your black wheeled bin (with lid completely shut), we will take it free of charge.
