Licensing & registration

We look after the licensing of all taxi (Hackney Carriage) drivers and vehicles, and any licences to do with animal premises (e.g. zoos, boarding kennels, pet shops) and food premises.

Due to the 2003 Licensing Act, we now also deal with the licensing of premises that sell or supply alcohol, or provide entertainment (public entertainment, theatres, cinemas, registered members’ club, late night hot food provision and indoor sport entertainment).

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Beacons

In 2012, Her Majesty The Queen will become the second Monarch in British history to celebrate sixty years on the throne. The Government is working closely with Buckingham Palace to ensure that there are truly ‘national’ celebrations taking place of which we can all be proud. As part of these celebrations, a series of beacons will be lit across the UK to celebrate this Jubilee. Please be advised that to simply light a beacon will not require a licence from the Licensing Authority, however should you be planning to host an event which contains activities which fall under regulated entertainment then a licence may be required. If in doubt please feel free to contact a member of the Licensing Team to discuss on 01508 533621 or alternatively email details of your proposed event to licensingteam@s-norfolk.gov.uk.
