What to do if your bin collection is delayed
Summary
The ice and snow can sometimes delay or even stop our collection crews from emptying bins in the district. Please continue to bear with us - we will always do our best to try and complete our collection rounds unless it is too hazardous to continue.
Further information
Our advice:
- If your waste collection is delayed, leave your bin out, and we will return and empty it as soon as it is safe to do so.
- We may not be able to return for some days. Please do not be concerned about smells from the bin if it is not collected. In very cold weather waste is unlikely to rot.
- If you have extra waste due to a delay of a few days, we will in these exceptional circumstances only, accept a small number of waste sacks alongside your bin, but please keep these to a minimum.
- If the weather disrupts collections for a longer period of time, it may mean collections do not return to normal for a few weeks. In the event of this happening, we will alert the local media and ensure notices are on our website.
