Sustainable communities – grants and advice
Summary
Working together through community groups, clubs and societies can make a big difference to the environment. If you are a community group with an interest in the environment and reducing your carbon footprint, there are a number of grants and sources of help available to you.

As well as our own loans and grants schemes, there are a number of potential sources of funding and help and advice for communities who want to develop and implement a community-based energy project:
- Energy Saving Trust’s Green Communities Team [external site] – provides guidance on engaging your community, planning a community project and getting funding. They also offer training and have an online community carbon footprinting tool.
- Community Sustainable Energy Programme (CSEP) [external site] – funding available for renewable technologies and energy efficiency measures. The deadline for the current round of capital funding is 29 October 2010.
- Funding from energy companies, for example the E.ON Source Fund [external site] or EDF Green Fund [external site].
- The government’s new “Feed-In Tariff” scheme [external site] provides payments to householders or communities who generate electricity from renewable sources.
- Recycling credits are available from Norfolk County Council [external site] for organisations that collect and recycle material.
- Recycle for Norfolk [external site] – information on recycling in your community. .
