Why compost?

Every year when we work in our gardens we produce a large amount of unwanted cuttings and clippings, especially from the lawn! Every day we produce kitchen waste from vegetable scraps.

For many people the question of what to do with this 'waste' presents a problem. Instead of seeing the garden and kitchen waste as a problem, convert it to compost and it provides an opportunity to fertilise gardens as well as helping to protect the environment and saving peat bogs.

The information in this section of our website provides you with different options for dealing with your garden and kitchen waste in an environmentally friendly way.

Home composting

By composting at home you will lower the amount of waste going to landfill, help save peat bogs, improve your garden's soil aeration and drainage, and get rid of your garden waste for free!
