Further information

Why pay by Direct Debit?

Paying your household bills, such as council tax, by Direct Debit helps spread the cost as well as saving you time and money.

Setting up a Direct Debit is easy too – follow the instructions above to get your Direct Debit payments set up now.

Payment dates

The payments for council tax and business rates are payable over 10 monthly instalments beginning in April through to January of the next year. However, if you pay by Direct Debit, these payments can now be made weekly, fortnightly or four-weekly to suit you, and can also be over 12 months, should you wish to spread your payments over a full year.

For garden waste bins, payment will be taken on the 1st of the month annually.

eBilling

You can now choose to receive your council tax and/or business rates bills by email instead of by post. To sign up for this service - and also to register to view your account details online - fill out our simple online application form.

Standing orders

Another way to make regular payments to us is by setting up a standing order. The difference with standing orders is that you set up the payments directly with your bank or building society, whereas with Direct Debit we tell your bank to make the regular payments.

See our page on paying by standing order for more information.
