Further information

Why pay by direct debit?

Paying your household bills, such as council tax, by direct debit helps spread the cost as well as saving you time and money.

Setting up a direct debit is easy too – follow the instructions above to get your direct debit payments set up now.

Payment dates

There are three payment dates for council tax and business rates each month - the 5th, 15th and 25th. Please tell us which date you prefer. You will be sent a bill showing the amount and the date the payments will be taken from your bank/building society account.

The payments for council tax and business rates are payable over 10 monthly instalments beginning in April through to January of the next year.

eBilling

You can now choose to receive your council tax and/or business rates bills by email instead of by post. To sign up for this service - and also to register to view your account details online - fill out our simple online application form.

Standing orders

Another way to make regular payments to us is by setting up a standing order. The difference with standing orders is that you set up the payments directly with your bank or building society, whereas with direct debit we tell your bank to make the regular payments.

See our page on paying by standing order for more information.
