South Norfolk residents have some fantastic seasonal entertainment in store at Wymondham, Diss and Harleston.

South Norfolk Council has been working with local town councils and organisations to make sure they have a range of free festive family events to enjoy.

From the fun-packed light switch-ons in Diss and Harleston, to the magic of Wymondham's Dickensian Evening, there is something for everyone. It includes live music, theatrical performances, ice sculptures, giant snowmen and more.

South Norfolk Council Leader John Fuller said:

"Our market towns are very special to us and that is why each year we try to offer support to ensure these Christmas events are a big success.

"We don't always get public recognition for that, but the fun and enjoyment created by the lights switch-on, the late night shopping and the Dickensian evening is reward enough.”

Wymondham highlights include legendary comedy musical trio Pluck.

At Diss, a giant snow globe hosting a spectacular acrobalance performance complements the star of the show BBC Look East presenter Mike Liggins, who will switch on the town's lights. There will also be a special performance from Mere Musica and the Salvation Army Band at the Mere's Mouth between 5.30 and 7.15pm.

In Harleston, Hamilton Ice Sculptures will be creating magical works of art and BBC Radio Norfolk's Chris Goreham joins the choir of Harleston Primary School in switching on the lights. There will be late night shopping too for those special Christmas gifts.

Councillor Fuller added:

"We hope everyone has a fantastic time, sharing Christmas cheer and enjoying the true spirit of a South Norfolk market towns' Christmas."

Programme of events:

Diss Town Christmas Light Switch-On – Thursday 26 November from 5pm.

Dickensian Evening at Wymondham – Thursday 3 December from 6pm.

Light Switch-On and Late Night Shopping at Harleston – Friday 4th December from 6pm
