Ditchingham Hall lights up for dazzling opera

Released on 02 September 2009

The predicted fine weekend weather is set to make it an evening to remember on Saturday for the performance of Rossini's Barber of Seville in English, at Ditchingham Hall.

This hilarious performance of Rossini's comic classic, which starts at 6pm, takes place in front of the Hall - and when the sun sets at around 7.30pm all the Hall lights will be switched on to make a dazzling backdrop.

This is the first event of its kind at the Hall, and already one keen fan has snapped up around £400 of tickets for family and friends.

Gates open at 5pm for the audience to bring their own picnics to enjoy in the stunning gardens and grounds, landscaped by Capability Brown.

The performance is by the Garden Opera company - it is their last venue before returing to London - and it promises to be a fantastic farewell.

The times of the performance are: first Act, 6pm until 7.15pm, with a 30 minute interval. The second Act is from 7.45pm to 8.30pm.

Tickets on the gate are £22, £18 concessions, and £12 for under 16s.
