Organised sites for gypsies and travellers should be beneficial to all who live in the South Norfolk community rather than the unauthorised and unpredicatble sites that can suddenly spring up.

South Norfolk Council has booked Wymondham Central Hall for a public meeting so that local people can ask questions about the consultation on gypsy and traveller site proposals.

The meeting is being organised at the request of Wymondham Town Council, and will take place between 7.30pm and 9pm on Wednesday 29th April.

Ronnie Hoare, Chairman of South Norfolk Council's Gypsy and Traveller Working Group says the meeting will give local people a chance to question councillors and staff so that they are in a better position to respond to the consultation.

He said the consultation was now over half way through and had been a great success. The Council has received hundreds of representations from the public on all aspects of the proposals.

He said:

"Organised sites for gypsies and travellers should be beneficial to all who live in the South Norfolk community rather than the unauthorised and unpredicatble sites that can suddenly spring up."

The public meeting follows District Council organised drop-in information sessions also taking place at Central Hall on Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd of April.

The sessions are 9.30am to 12 noon and 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Tuesday, and 7.30pm to 9pm on Wednesday next week.

The consultation concludes on Tuesday 5th May at 4.30pm.
