Royal Anglians to benefit from Council Chairman’s cash
Released on 04 December 2008
It’s important to give soldiers our support and thanks and show the families that we are thinking of them at this time.
Councillor Margaret Dewsbury
South Norfolk Council Chairman, Councillor Margaret Dewsbury will be donating £500 on behalf of the Council to the Royal Anglian Regiment Benevolent Fund.
Instead of spending the money from the Chairman’s budget on costly Christmas cards, Councillor Dewsbury is following in the tradition of the previous Chairman and donating the money to this extremely worthy cause.
Councillor Dewsbury commented:
“For families who have lost a loved one at war, this time of year can be particularly difficult. The Benevolent Fund offers them vital help and support in their time of need and provides assistance to soldiers who have been severely injured in the line of duty.
“It’s important to give these soldiers our support and thanks and show the families that we are thinking of them at this time.”
Councillor Dewsbury will present the cheque to Sergeant Major Ivan Snow at South Norfolk Council’s annual Charity Carol Concert.
The concert, which is in aid of the All Hallows Hospital, is taking place at 7.30pm on Friday 5 December at the Council offices in Long Stratton.
South Norfolk Youth Symphonic Band will be playing, joined by the Dolce Choir and junior bell ringers from Starston.
It’s free to attend and amongst the festive treats on offer are sausage rolls, mince pies and homemade punch.
