People power comes to South Norfolk

South Norfolk residents in the West, Centre and South of the district get a chance to set the agenda for community improvement next week when their first Neighbourhood Forums open for business.
The aim of the Forums is to encourage local people to attend and identify any problem hot spots for action and make strong representations for ways to improve the local area.
That includes comments on possible future local government reorganisation.
South Norfolk Council has set up five forums and set aside £138,000 to back community projects.
These meetings are step one in a process of preliminary work towards developing future improvement projects which could attract council backing of up to £2,000 each.
The following Forums meet next week:
- Central Neighbourhood Forum. This covers Swainsthorpe in the north to Shelton and Great Moulton in the south, and Carllton Rode in the west to Woodton in the east. It meets at 7.30pm on 28 November at South Norfolk Council, Long Stratton. The Chairman is Councillor Hedley Smith.
- Waveney Valley Neighbourhood Forum. This covers Bressingham in the west to Earsham in the east, Tivetshall St Margaret in the north to Scole and Brockdish in the south. Diss and Harleston are the major market towns. It meets at 7.30pm on 29 November at Dickleburgh Village Hall. The Chairman is Councillor Tony Palmer.
- Wymondham and West Neighbourhood Forum. This covers Runhall in the north to Talconeston in the south and Hingham in the west to Wreningham in the east. It meets at 7pm on 30 November at Fairland Church, Wymondham. The Chairman is Councillor Joe Mooney.
Councillor Mooney, who is also South Norfolk Council Chairman, said all three areas stood to gain great benefits from coming along to the Forum meetings - but it was absolutely vital to attend.
