Further information

What is a Parish Plan?

A Parish Plan is a project a community can do to improve local services and facilities. If you haven't already read it, take a look at our Parish Plans page for more information about what it is and ideas for how to do one.

Get advice!

To apply for a Parish Plan Award it is highly advisable that you are in contact with either our Community Development Team (contact details at the foot of the page) or the Development Worker at Norfolk Rural Community Council, to help you develop your ideas before you apply.

How to apply

To apply for our Parish Plan Award you will need to submit a signed, completed application form by post (available to download under 'Printable forms' above). If you have any queries about completing the form please contact us.

Budget & planning your expenditure

An award will not be given for work that has already taken place. So once your ideas are agreed, you will need to develop a budget and programme of activities.

Next, think about applying for the funding you need for your budget. Once your funding is approved you can make a start on the activities to produce your Parish Plan.

How much is available?

The maximum Parish Plan Award you can apply for from us is a base amount of £500 plus 20p per person in your parish.

An example for a village with a population of 1,500

Award Amount (£)

Base amount

500

20p per person (x 1,500)

300

Total maximum award

800

Funding from other sources (match funding)

Match funding from other grants must be of equal or greater value than the amount you are applying to us for.

Example of funding for a Parish Plan with a budget of £1,800

Grant source Amount (£)

Parish Plan Award (South Norfolk Council)

800

Norfolk Rural Community Council Grant (from Rural Projects Fund)

800

Parish council contribution

200

Total funding

1,800

From the example above you can see that the match funding grants from the Norfolk Rural Community Council (£800) and the parish council (£200) come to a total (£1,000) which is greater than our Parish Plan Award.

For more help with match funding please contact us.
