Recycling Ricky roams South Norfolk

On Wednesday August 24th at Diss Market Place and Thursday August 25th at Wymondham Market place, between 10am and 3pm, South Norfolk Council invites you and your family to meet Recycling Ricky, who, along with staff from South Norfolk Council will be hosting the Slim Your Bin roadshow over the two days.

The Slim Your Bin trailer, has displays, information and practical advise on recycling, composting and shopping smartly, as well as providing an opportunity for a fun, family day out.

Chaz Scholefield, Direct Services Manager says:

“We want to show our residents how we can help them to cut down on their waste. Some people may consider recycling dull and inconvenient, but those who come along will see that it’s really simple to do. They will also get the chance to see what some of their recycling is turned into.

Our residents should be proud of what they have achieved since getting their wheeled bins - thanks to them it looks likely that we will be able to meet our target of a 30% recycling rate. This is only the beginning however and we need to look at how we can reduce our waste in the future. These roadshows are a great way to take the ‘Slim Your Bin’ message into the households of our district.”

Environment Officer, Alexandra Bone, who has organised the events said:

“There’s so much to see and do. It’s a family oriented day - with fun, competitions and prizes as well as some really useful information. We look forward to seeing you there.”

Some of the activities on the day include:

- Anglia Action Slim Your Bin Trailer scheme - South Norfolk Council’s Direct Services team will be available to answer questions, or provide advice - Chance to meet Recycling Ricky, the gentle giant of recycling - Your chance to win a recycled fleece.
