Last call for design nominations!

Released on 10 August 2005

The deadline is approaching for nominations for South Norfolk’s design awards.

You don’t have to live in South Norfolk to have a favourite building in the district which you would like to see celebrated - just be sure to send in your nomination by Tuesday 30 August.

David Edleston, South Norfolk Council’s Conservation & Design Architect, said:

"Exceptional buildings are more important than ever today, and we want to recognise those in South Norfolk which particularly add to the quality of our built environment. This is the fifth year of the awards, and so we have added two new categories to reflect the importance of conservation and landscape design."

"The building must have been completed on site since January 2003 - and it can be remarkable for any number of reasons. Is it particularly imaginative, or does it respect and enhance its environment? If you have found a scheme exciting or stimulating - tell us about it, and to give it the credit it deserves!"

Entry criteria

- For the first time this year there are four award categories: A. New building - this can include any individual building, or a group of buildings on a single site. B. Extension to an existing building. C. Conservation - repair, restoration or conversion of an existing building. D. Landscape Design - a planting/hard landscape scheme either in association with a new development or a stand alone project e.g. enhancement of a public open space, play area etc.

- Works must have been completed on site since January 2003.

- Entries may be submitted by owners, clients, architects, designers, contractors, manufacturers, Parish Councils, amenity societies or any member of the public.

- There is no limit to the number of entries which may be submitted from any one source, but in all cases the consent of the owner must be obtained prior to making the nomination.

- Entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form and supported by photographs and/or drawings, preferably showing the site before and after completion as appropriate.

- The awards will be made in October 2005.

All nominations must be returned by Tuesday 30th August 2005. For an entry form, contact David Edleston:
