Council welcomes 'fair' verdict on housing service
Released on 15 June 2005
South Norfolk Council has welcomed the results of an inspection of its housing services and pledged to keep affordable housing as its key priority.
The council’s housing team received the outcome of the Audit Commission’s report this week.
Mandy Smith, who leads on Housing for South Norfolk Council, said:
"We welcome the Commission’s rating of our service as ‘fair with promising prospects’ as a springboard for the raft of improvements we will be delivering. It is only a year since we transferred all our housing stock to South Norfolk Housing Partnership, a huge change for everyone here.
"We now have a new Strategic Housing Manager and are heartened by the report’s strong reference to our promising prospects for improvement. They back our absolute commitment to delivering more affordable homes in South Norfolk and meeting the needs of all sections of our community.
"The report also supports our commitment to providing helpful and prompt advice to try to prevent homelessness before it happens."
