We'll be back, says bin team after snow problems

Released on 04 March 2005

South Norfolk Council's refuse collection team have promised to be back on the road after the weekend to collect the few bins they missed because of the snow.

Despite the sudden and heavy snowfall, the teams collected from across the district, and only some minor roads were affected.

Alan Paice, South Norfolk Council’s Assistant Direct Services Manager said:

“It's been a real challenge getting through the snow and the chaos on the roads this morning, but we made it, and we want to thank all our customers for bearing with us, for being patient, and for all the offers of a cup of tea. We really appreciated it. To those we missed, we are sorry. We'll be back after the weekend to collect these bins.”

The council estimates that out of 10,000 homes the collection teams visited this morning, only a few were missed because of the weather.

Mr Paice, who manages the teams at the council's Ketteringham depot, said customers who were missed should leave their bins or bags out for collection after the weekend.
