Out with the old, in with the new
Released on 22 December 2005
South Norfolk Council want to wish all of their Residents a very Happy New Year.
Councillor John Peterson, portfolio holder for the Environment said:
“Recycling and waste minimisation has been a key theme in South Norfolk during 2005 and we are delighted at how well residents have worked with us to meet the challenges we face concerning our waste.
“The results of how we have done in 2005 will be released early next year.
“There will of course be much more for us to do in 2006 but I am confident from the great work that our residents are doing that they will continue to support us.”
Christmas is a time for family, friends and having fun but after those enjoyable events have taken place there’s always so much clearing up to do and don’t forget many things can still be recycled.
Your Christmas cards can be taken to either Tesco’s or W H Smiths for The Woodland Trust.
Real Christmas trees can be taken to your nearest household recycling centre where it will be shredded and composted.
And of course take those glass bottles and jars at your nearest bottle bank.
Finally, just when you thought you had finished wrapping parcels for another year, there’s just one last thing to do. Wrap that turkey carcass and any other food waste in something absorbent, then place it in a plastic bag and seal the bag.
If anyone is unsure about what to do with their waste over the festive period they should call 01603 819999 or visit the website at www.south-norfolk.gov.uk
