South Norfolk Council has thanked local people for getting involved in its big consultation on the future of the district.

With the consultation now entering its final phase, the response from the public so far has been described as “excellent" with over a thousand residents attending just nine open events.

Of those, 340 attended the event at Wymondham Central Hall and 150 went to the market stall. Another 140 people came to the market stall in Diss.

Hundreds of questionnaires have also come back to the council, with more expected as people send in the cut out and return freepost survey from the council’s magazine The Link.

Alan Gomm, the council’s Planning Policy Manager said:

“People have responded to the challenge. And by joining the consultation in such numbers, our residents are helping decide where over the next 15 years, developers might build more homes, where we might have new job opportunities, schools, shops, sports facilities and so on.

“I want to thank them for meeting us, and I want them to know they are making a difference. Their response has been excellent.

“We are preparing the Local Development Framework, which will help shape the future of our district for the next 15 years. We couldn't do it without them.”
