Get registered for the General Election!

Voters in South Norfolk are being urged to get their names on the Electoral Register as soon as possible.

South Norfolk Council Electoral Services Manager Alex Evans and his team are busy preparing for a hectic Spring with the County Council elections on May 5, and the General Election being touted in the national media and among pundits as possibly the same day.

Alex Evans said:

“It looks increasingly like May 5 is the big day – with the General Election and the County Council elections running together. My message to South Norfolk voters is: Get registered – and do it as soon as you can.”

South Norfolk voter turnout is traditionally high. At the last General Election, which was also a County Council election day, turnout was 68%.

However, Alex Evans added:

“We must not be complacent. We must make sure South Norfolk residents not on the register and anyone moving into the area get their details to us by March 11 at the latest. This will ensure they are added to the register on 1 April.

“Anyone who applies after March 11 will be added to the register on May 3 but this will NOT be effective for May 5.

“Please contact the Electoral Services team to get your registration form, on 01508 533686 as soon as possible. We will send it to you with a business reply envelope.

“Alternatively, you can go onto our website at www.south-norfolk.gov.uk. Follow the links from Your Council, to Elections and the voter registration form. Print it off, fill it in and return it to us as soon as you can.”
