Time to book for your summer adventure!

Released on 17 June 2004

Bookings are being taken from Monday June 28 for Sound Summer 2004 - an exciting programme of activities for 12 to 15 year olds.

Mark Scott, Youth and Sports Development Officer at South Norfolk Council said:

“In a structured, exciting and intelligently researched programme, Sound Summer gives you – the young people who live or to go to school in South Norfolk - the chance to take part in a wide variety of sports, arts and media workshops.

“Our aim is to promote a healthy lifestyle and offer you the opportunity to meet people, make friends and even gain accreditation on some of the courses.

“Develop your interests or try something new – or both! It’s up to you.

“Come and join us – it’s more than just a way to fill two weeks of your summer holiday, it’ll be an exciting, worthwhile adventure.”

The scheme runs for two weeks:

July 26th – 30th Residential week - Art or Outdoor Adventure

August 2nd – 6th (Non-residential) Long Stratton High School. Activities and workshops. (Transport will be provided from Diss, Harleston, Loddon, Poringland and Wymondham. You can attend daily or all week)

Mark said:

“The residential scheme is a three-day event (either 26 – 28 July or 28 – 30 July) with two options. You can choose the Adventure Challenge involving sports such as archery, climbing, High Ropes, orienteering, mountain biking and the challenging, aerial zip-wire slide, the Big Zipper.

“Or the Art Adventure, which is based at the same centre. This is a chance to explore your creativity as part of a group that will be making art, influenced by nature. Among the hills and the woodland and with a view of the sea, inspiration is never far away! Enthusiasm is vital – being Vincent Van Gogh is not!

“For the non-residential week at Long Stratton High School, the activities and workshops include watersports, drama, dance, photography, First Aid and babysitting courses, basketball, video and magazine projects, tennis, football, DJ’ing and climbing.

“The courses for which you can gain accreditation are First Aid, watersports and babysitting.”
