Successful debut for state of the art mobile bandstand
Released on 22 December 2003
The first outing for South Norfolk Council’s state-of-the-art mobile bandstand was a great success – both technically and with the crowd!
It was the centre of attraction at an outdoor Christmas Party at Long Stratton at the weekend.
Heidi Hadley, South Norfolk Council’s Cultural Regeneration Co-ordinator said:
“The event was a celebration of the local community. The local Brownies, the infant school choir and carol singers from the local church all utilised the bandstand to great effect – entertaining the 300-strong audience.”
She added: “The party was a great first trial-run for the bandstand, which proved to be quick and easy to assemble. Many people said they were impressed with its versatility.”
Fully mobile, the fold-up-and-transport blue bandstand has been funded by by Arts Council East.
Next summer it will become an integral part of South Norfolk Council’s Southern Broads Cultural Initiative, with plans in place for a diverse and exciting programme of cultural events.
Ms Hadley said:
“Our bandstand will become a focal point, drawing visitors to the area to enjoy music, exhibitions, puppetry, storytelling and much, much more.“
