South Norfolk Council is helping its communities celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by running a special street party workshop.
The event, on 24 January at 7pm at the Council offices in Long Stratton, will give local groups plenty of ideas and information to ensure their celebrations are a success.
Experts from across the Council will be offering advice on all aspects of event organisation, from selling alcohol and food safety to how to get the whole community involved.
The highways agency and the police will be giving advice on road closures and keeping people safe.
South Norfolk Council’s Deputy Leader Councillor Martin Wilby said:
“We have got an exciting summer ahead of us, with the whole country celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics.
“Through events like this workshop, we are supporting our communities to ensure they make the most of the celebrations, have fun and stay safe.
“If you are planning a street party in South Norfolk for the Jubilee, then visit our website and find out how we can help make your event a success.”
Small grants may also be available for groups to help with the cost of events and an application form will be available on the Council’s website.
The workshop is now fully booked, but a handy guide on running a street party and an events tool kit will be available to download from the Council’s website after the event. Visit www.south-norfolk.gov.uk/events.
